In this r egard, it is expected that the people involved in this economic activity should have their living standards elevated progressively and proportionately. However, the economic reality on the fishermen on Lake Victoria poses a contradicting reality on this concept. Having better living standards should be reflective in the access to the basic needs such as education, food, shelter and health. This should be the case of the people who are engaged in any kind of economic activity.Statement of the ProblemFishing as an economic activity, is not only important in promoting trade, but also as an economic activity that is meant to improve the living standards of fishermen and make those fishing and in any other way involved in the activity realize their desired goals.
